Washington Capitals is a professional American ice hockey club based in Washington, DC. He joined the NHL in 1974/75 and plays in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference. It plays its home games in the Capital One Arena with a capacity of 18,506 spectators. The club colors are red, blue and white.

Capitals has, like all other NHL teams, farm teams. From 2005 to present, Hershey Bears's first farming team and ECHL: Reading Royals have been in the second farming team since 2012. These teams serve to prepare young players or substitute players for the NHL.
